Why would I pay for telecom consulting services when my service provider tells me they can do this for free? Is that service really free? Do they consider solutions or pricing unique to their competitors? A service provider traditionally thinks of only one solution, the one you already have. It doesn't pay for them to offer anything else unless they think they could lose the client. An independent consultant considers alternative solutions in technology and if the competition is a smart solution or if it is just smoke and mirrors.
Is VoIP always the best, more cost affective solution for voice communications?VoIP is a great solution when it fits, however to many times it's sold as a "fix all" in many cases, it's the most costly solution both in budget dollars and time necessary to keep it operational (see example). Remember, your talking to a salesperson wanting to sell you whatever they are selling.
